About Us

caithnessmusic.com is a Social Enterprise which has been established by Susie Dingle and Katrina Gordon in order to encourage group music making in Caithness, so that everyone can be happier and healthier. Click on this link to find out more, or contact us if you'd like us to set up a group for you or your friends to join.

In addition to our social enterprise which has a focus on group music making, Susie and Katrina also run a private teaching practice offering one-to-one tuition. We now have two teaching rooms at 26 Grove Lane, Thurso, so we can work together or separately according to the needs of our private students.

Lessons can be booked during the day, after school or evening and we teach on both weekdays and weekends.  In response to the pandemic, lessons are now available on screen or in person according to your preference or needs.

Susie Dingle moved to Caithness in July 2012 and she specialises in brass, piano, conducting and vocal coaching. Susie is the conductor of the Caithness Orchestra & the Wick Choral Society and has also regularly conducted the St John's Singers, the Highland Chamber Orchestra, the Highland Region Youth Orchestra and the Aberdeenshire Youth Orchestra. She also continues to work regularly for the Scottish Schools Orchestral Trust on their courses for young musicians.  One of the silver linings of the Pandemic was that Susie was able to enjoy conducting the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in our onscreen Pictures at an Exhibition project.

Susie is a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and her PVG membership number is 1209 0397 9268 0326.

Katrina Gordon is well known as a community musician in Caithness and is closely involved with many musical groups including the Pentland Brass Band, the Caithness Handbell Ringers and the Caithness Big Band. She teaches and plays a wide variety of instruments and loves helping beginners to get started. Katrina also has a secret life as a composer - her music is currently published by Recital Music and distributed through Spartan Press. Her works appear on the exam lists of ABRSM, Trinity and MTB exams.  You can find out more about that by clicking on her name above or go to her score exchange page to view and hear some of her compositions.

Katrina is also a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and her PVG membership number is 1208 2696 9088 0345.
